Hanging DiBond. But what is DiBond?

Due to its popularity, we regularly get the question: 'what exactly is DiBond?' DiBond is a brand name of a type of aluminum composite material that is often used for photography, displays and signage. DiBond panels are composed of a polyethylene core sandwiched between two aluminum plates, making them light yet rigid and durable. The aluminum plates have a high-quality finish, which often makes them suitable for outdoor use. DiBond panels can be easily cut, milled, folded and drilled, making them a versatile material for a variety of applications.

What is the best way to hang DiBond?

Hanging a DiBond panels is relatively easy and there are several ways you can do it. For example:

DiBond Hangers: A popular way to hang DiBond signs is to use DiBond hangers. You can attach two DiBond hangers to the back of the panel and then hang them from nails or hooks on the wall.

DiBond Rails: The DiBond rails are extremely suitable for professional purposes and large works. The rails ensure that the plate hangs firmly and the work moves away from the wall a bit, so that it appears to float. This gives a very nice effect for your artwork.

French Cleat Rail: A French Cleat rail is a mounting rail consisting of two interlocking pieces, one attached to the wall and the other to the back of the panel. This method is ideal for larger and heavier panels as it provides excellent stability and support. In this case, the DiBond plate must either have enough thickness to be screwed in, or the French Cleat rail (Z Bar) must be glued on it, with double-sided tape.

Before hanging the DiBond panels, make sure you choose the right DiBond hanger that fits the size and weight of the panel and the wall surface. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation, the safety guidelines, always use a cleaning cloth and wait at least 6 hours before hanging the DiBond panel.
